Edit: I thought $17.50 was a bit high, so I reduced the price of the book a little to $16.99. I wish I could make it cheaper but I'm already losing money as it is orz.

Taishi Iwasaka had always dreamed of working in Area 9, a research facility surrounded by a huge wall that is famous for protecting the people from lethal viruses that have wiped out nearly half of the population.

Is there anything Taishi can do before it's too late? Just who is Bomb, and why does he want to destroy Area 9? Taishi will have to overcome his feelings of helplessness if he's going to do anything about it, as well as make a few shocking discoveries along the way.

This is what the bookmark looks like: Area 9 Bookmark preview by Lumnili

Buy it now or awaken Bomb's wrath!

I have also made a few small changes to the main pages, like fixing typos, slight changes in dialogue and tones … nothing major.

It looks like I misunderstood what it said on the printer's main site, and the books aren't kept in their storehouse to ship directly to the buyers unless you sign a year-long agreement for a fulfilment service, but there's a monthly charge, so I decided not to go for it… Not until I go pro and start selling several books a month (if that ever happens :P)

So as it stands, I'm now selling from home, which DOES have its benefits since I can add freebies. :D

PHOTO TIME※

Here's a blurry image of the back and the spine. My camera sucks. ._.

Now open the book and… Oops! You started on the last page. This should remind you what happens when you do things backwards.

019 by Lumnili

I created new artwork especially for the contents page! Because contents give a lasting impression (or not…)

003 by Lumnili

And here are some of the story pages! Just look at the lovely crisp contrast between the whites and the blacks!

007 by Lumnili 006 by Lumnili 005 by Lumnili 009 by Lumnili 022 by Lumnili 024 by Lumnili

Don't forget Bomb's grumpy face! xD

012 by Lumnili

In the book version, there are also little sketches at the start of each chapter.

023 by Lumnili

And of course, let's not forget the extras, a little treat for those who bought the book. : )

013 by Lumnili

I can't show much of this section, but there are comics, character profiles, concept art (from when my art was painfully bad) and more.

014 by Lumnili

(The text is blocked out for obvious reasons. But basically the 4 main characters have filled out sort of a survey, and you can guess that Bomb isn't very truthfull about all the questions. The questions start getting really random towards the end just to annoy Bomb, because he hates these survey things =P)

Now, go buy the book so you can add it to your manga collection!

020 by Lumnili

Or if you have Japanese manga you can put it there if you want! : ) (I have some Japanese manga, but my Japanese is bad so I still haven't read/finished a lot of those titles)

021 by Lumnili

(This manga actually has the same dimensions as a standard Japanese manga, so maybe it'll blend in more Japanese manga… XD)

Ok, sorry about another very long journal. But, anyway, I'd be very happy if you bought my book!  :D

If you're interested in the printing process, you can read on.

-------------------------

---------

The printer I used was 360 Digital Books, they're a very good printer and I'd recommend them to anyone who wants to get their manga printed but was unhappy in some way with the more mainstream printers. I found them after spending a whole day searching for a good printer, but each one I looked into had a certain catch, be it file restrictions, size restrictions or just a bad reputation. 360 Digital is completely customisable, which came as a BIG relief to me because all the other printers had rules like 'Your book must be this size', 'Your files can't exceed this limit', 'You can't use a dpi higher than this' (which is a big problem because black and white, toned books NEED a high dpi!!!) I finally found this printer and they allowed you to choose your own size, your own paper type and cover type, and they actually specified that black and white files SHOULD be at least 600dpi. :D

There's very little on the site (being as customisable as they are, they can't exactly have set prices, I guess) so everything was done through email. My Sales Account Manager was very helpful and she guided me through most of the process. Being a complete noob I had to bother her with a lot of silly questions, but I'm glad they have such helpful staff otherwise I don't know what I would have done. :O (All the staff I was in contact with were very nice, sometimes they even used smiley face emotes xD)

From what I read on someone's blog, they're also cheap compared to a lot of other short-run printers. The only expensive part is the cost of proofs, and making changes to your files. But they sent me another proof free of charge when there was a mistake on their behalf with the first proof. Shipping was also expensive for me because they're based in America, and I'm not. >.o

But I'd still recommend them for those who want to print manga in short quantities, unless you have some amazing and cheap printers in your own country. They provide very good service and I'd be happy to use them again. :3

Also, I don't think your price is all that high, seeing as larger oneshots tend to be around $18.95. However this helps with shipping. ^_^

I've been waiting for you to publish this so I could buy it. Unfortunately I have no way to purchase it online at the moment...(unless I can somehow buy it through amazon or bribe you to send me one with my art.)
It's also a little priceyer than I imagined, but I guess that's how it is if you're not printing on a large scale.

I wish you the best of luck with your sales though.

Oh yes, I actually forgot all about Amazon, but I was thinking about trying it out... I just need to look into it more because if there's a big startup fee or something else then I probably won't be able to sell it there. >.> I'm curious, why are you able to buy something on Amazon but not on Storenvy? Does it have something to do with the payment process?
I don't know much about how manga is priced in the US... What would you say is a standard price? o:

And thanks! :)

I'm still in the process of getting a bank account and paypal up and working, so I don't have a way to pay online myself, however mom has an amazon account and sometimes I can buy stuff of there if I replace what I spent off her card in cash. We're kinda in a financial hole right now though, so it wouldn't even be guaranteed I could buy anything off her card at the moment.

as for the standard price of manga in the US, I usually see it around 6-10$. but it's hard to compete with the prices of mass produced books. so your price is fine as is. I don't know what your printing costs are, and you should make a profit off all that hard work you put into your book.

Oh I see, I used to have the same problem before I had a bank account and a debit card. But I used to ask my parents if I could use their credit cards for other sites too, whether it was paypal or some other shopping sites. XD Good luck anyway! I know how it feels to want something but to not be able to afford it. :/

Woah, that's cheap! Where I live they sell manga for about 10 EUROS, sometimes even more. That's like 13.50$ if it's cheap. :/ From what I've seen, indie manga's usually more expensive than that (maybe 10-15$ on average) so my manga is still a BIT more expensive than average, but on the other hand it does have a lot of pages, and this is as cheap as I can afford to make it for now. O:

Oh no, I was thinking about decreasing it a little from the start! It may be expensive for me now but I'm looking into ways to make it cheaper if I get a reprint. :)

I have to say, "Thank you sooo much!" If I get any art sales, I'm going to buy this cuz it's worth it. I love your characters, the action, art, humor, sci-fi, and style. It'd be great if a love triangle started between the 3 friends in the 2nd series. I wonder who'd she pick...Taishi or Bomb? I hope this story becomes famous. Bravo to you!

Thank you so much, I'm glad you think it's worth it despite the price... If only book printing was cheaper. >o<

Or maybe she'd pick neither of them and marry... I dunno... a goat? "If I have to choose between one of you two or a goat, I think a goat is more attractive". XD Ok I don't know where that came from, I can be random sometimes. XD

Good luck with your art sales! It wasn't until I set up my own store that I found out how impossible selling art is (Not that it's impossible, but... You know what I mean. >O

Well, I'm back. I know this is a late reply, but it's great hearing you've been selling your manga. How did the sales do? I've seen your current journal mentioning you're stopping the sales.

Welcome back! :D Sales have been good at shops and cons but not online... So I'm closing the shop for the college semester because the sales I make online is not worth the hassle of transporting all my products and packaging to my college apartment (and I don't exactly have a lot of free space here O_o)

:icontxrabbit: I'm really happy to hear sales have been going well for  you at the shops & cons. Yeah, there are times wise decisions, like in your case, has to be made. I think I'd do the same thing. Carting that stuff and suffocating from lack of storage... nope... not worth it like you said. I have gotten one of your books yet cuz of financial situations, but I'm hoping to soon, if some other way opens up... like the shops shipping your volumes.
